Mystery Woman Vera Svechina Snuck Into Google, Left Book And Letter

(Reuters) - A woman who claims Google is "inside her head and making her do things" quietly gained entry to the company's Silicon Valley headquarters last month, leaving behind a book and angry letter for the company's co-founders, police said on Friday.
Vera Svechina, a self-described filmmaker and former stripper, walked undetected into Google's main offices on March 14 and spent several minutes there, Mountain View police spokeswoman Liz Wylie said.
"An administrative staff member returned to her desk and found a book in Russian as well as a letter addressed to the two founders," Wylie told Reuters, referring to Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
"It didn't make any sense," Wylie said of the letter. "They were the ramblings of somebody with some kind of condition."
Google contacted police four days later, after reviewing security camera footage and finding that Svechina had breached the inner offices of the world's largest Internet company by walking in behind a visually impaired employee, Wylie said.
Police do not know the current whereabouts of Svechina, 37, who was last known to be living in San Francisco. She has not been arrested or charged in the case.

Kelly McGillis on coming out, new movies

Kelly McGillis was one of the hottest stars of the 1980s. Between her work in "Top Gun," "Witness" and "The Accused," she looked poised to rush the '90s as an A-list movie star. But her struggles with her sexual identity had her deciding to leave the spotlight.

The tells EW about her decision to finally come out of the closet.

"Fundamentally, I was just tired of lying about who I am. I've reached a point where my kids are grown, they're out of the house, they no longer have to be concerned that their friends, their friends' families, will put them in compromising emotional situations because of my sexual preference," says McGillis. "That was a big concern of mine because, unfortunately, a lot of people are not very tolerant. I got to a certain age and I didn't give a s*** anymore. Ultimately, all I have to offer anybody is my truth. I don't have any profound wisdom, no profound insight, I only have my truth and my experience to offer others. And I was living a frigging lie."

The network said Monday it has ordered the new comedy series, “Veep,” and expects it to debut in fall 2012. Louis-Dreyfus plays a former senator who becomes vice president and finds the job is everything she was warned about.
As a featured player in “Seinfeld” and star of “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” Louis-Dreyfus has a strong track record in TV comedy.
The series was created by Armando Iannucci, who earned an Oscar nomination for writing “In the Loop.” He’s an executive producer along with Frank Rich, a former New York Times columnist.
Said Louis-Dreyfus: “Although everyone says this is a comedy, I don’t think there is anything funny at all about me being a heartbeat away from the presidency.”

Wendy Williams brings personal experience to new 'Love Triangle' show

Wendy Williams hosts a new "adult" show "Love Triangle" on The Game Show Network and says she's bringing some personal experience.
Williams admit that is was "very easy" for her to be in a love triangle in the past because she found herself admiring different things in two different men but didn't want to marry either of them.
"I don't just say it like I mean it, I see it for what it is," Williams told the Associated Press in a recent interview. "Like this guy right here is good for these great lobster meals during these lean times in my life, but I don't like how he treats his mother and he's not husband material, so I'm not thinking about him - this one right here blows my back out, but there is more to life than just sex, so guess what, I don't want either one of these people for keepers, so why should I choose?"
In the new dating show, Williams will invite one person who is involved with two people without them knowing about each other and with the use of lie detector tests and an "inquisitive host," the person will be forced to choose who they want to build a life with.
"This is an adult show," Williams told the Associated Press. "It is not for children, I don't want to hear about an 18 or 20-year-old being caught in a love triangle. I like to hear about that 35-year-old who's been seeing two people and sleeping with both but neither one knows about each other and then they come out on my couch and we learn that he or she's been sleeping with both and then I ask, 'Who's better in bed?' 'cause that's the kind of host I am! That's the kind of show this is."
Williams was recently eliminated from season 12 of "Dancing With The Stars" and the busy host had to juggle her schedule with her talk show "The Wendy Williams Show," a radio show and her family life with the grueling dance training. Williams said after the elimination that the experience was "bittersweet."
"'Dancing With The Stars' is something that tested my attitude quite a bit," Williams told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "It's not easy to be judged for something you've never claimed to be good at and get scores that you don't feel as though you deserve... It's bitter because nobody likes to get cut. It's sweet because I get back to my gorgeous son, my supportive husband, my wonderful staff of 'The Wendy Show' and the business of running Wendy."
"Love Triangle" premiered on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. ET on GSN. Check out Williams' Associated Press interview and promo for the show below.

Ray Allen drains go-ahead 3-pointer over Ronny Turiaf and Toney Douglas, lifts Boston over Knicks

BOSTON - He rubbed off screens, dropped in runners along the baseline and buried a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer from the corner, employing an economical use of space to separate himself for open looks. It was Celtics guard Ray Allen's ability to relocate behind the 3-point line with 12 seconds left, though, that sprung him free for the game-winner over Ronny Turiaf's extended arm.
"It's all about rhythm," said Allen, who set a screen for guard Paul Pierce before rolling off and receiving a pass from him.
Allen, the NBA's all-time leader in 3-point field goals, knocked down the biggest jump shot of Boston's 87-85 playoff win over the Knicks, holding his hand high as guard Toney Douglas, who had tripped while trying to prevent Allen from squaring up, looked up at him. Douglas, at Allen's feet, watched the dagger fall through the net at the TD Garden. "I've seen it a trillion times," Celtics forward Glen Davis said. "Ray hits that anytime."
In scoring 24 points and grabbing six rebounds, Allen accepted the responsibility of lifting the Celtics from first-half struggles and absorbed blows from the Knicks' interior defenders en route to the rim. Able to position himself in ways to protect his 35-year-old frame, Allen opened opportunities for teammates on the perimeter and crafted an ending suited for the story line of the experienced unit flipping the switch for the playoffs. "I knew we'd find our comfort zones," Allen said. "We're our own worst enemy if we don't move the ball around. I'm not going to fall into that hole thinking I have to shoot."
The game was far from seamless for the Celtics. On multiple trips up the court, point guard Rajon Rondo ran too fast for his own handle, the Celtics staggered through two 24-second shot clock violations and lapsed through three-second violations. Still, the knowledge of being able to shake off air balls and the necessity to push the pace allowed them to maintain composure.
"If we're worrying about a violation on the first play then we're in trouble," Pierce said. "We know what it takes at this point."

BrightStar Cares for it’s Clients and It’s Personnel

Tonight’s episode of Undercover boss highlighted Shelley Sun who went undercover in the company she co-founded with her husband J.D.  The Sun’s started BrightStar Care to help fill the gap in personal care needs throughout the country.  This company, which they began in 2002, is now worth more than $100 million.  This would be an opportunity to discover if the care they think their company is providing is actually coming to fruition. J.D. is also going to do some undercover work.
The duo is undercover saying they are former administrative assistants looking to get into healthcare.  They started out in Arizona with Shelly working in KidCare, hoping to glean ways to make this a larger part of their business.  She trained under James, helping to care for quadruplet two-year olds.  Their father was serving in Iraq at the time of taping, so they got to help do a skype with their dad.  Though Shelly is a mom of twins, she is more of a CEO than a mom in real life and was in over her head.  She said, “It’s been a long time since I’ve changed a poopy diaper, if ever.” WOW!! She did admit she wants to learn to be a better mom. J.D. followed George around in an independent living facility.  While there,  he realized there was a gap in training and communication between the individual caregivers.  He also faced a tough crowd as he was the caller in bingo.  Perhaps most importantly, he discovered that he liked the idea of being in service to people.  J.D. said George was, “Better than great!”
J.D’s adventure was cut short so he could go home and take care of the boys.  Shelly continued her quest for info about their company.  She showed up in northern California as a temp in a nursing home.  Her goal was to make sure her caregivers were  going above and beyond so they can continue to help facilities augment their staff.  She was trained by Arlene, a CNA.  “Linda” got a crash course in personal hygienic care of the elderly.  She seemed to enjoy teasing with the clients.  Shelly’s eyes were opened as she talked with Arlene about her personal life as a single mom to a 7 year old daughter.  She had her daughter as a teen, and her daughter’s dad died, so she’s been working hard for a long time.  She is studying to be an RN while working part time for BrightStar.  She expressed the feeling that they are considered the black sheep because temps are in a temporary staffing situation.
The next stop for Shelly was a customer’s home in Centerville, Ohio.  She met up with Lisa, an LPN.  “Linda” struggled to find a pulse on the client.  She also got a reminder that if she pursued this career she’d need clean, trim, nail polish free nails. OOPS.  Lisa shared that she  has a combined family with her husband and six kids together.  She said her husband was about to be laid off from GM and they were struggling because she wasn’t getting full-time hours at BrightStar.  Shelly walked away feeling a sense of pride at doing such an important job, but she also expressed concern about how to hold onto someone as important as Lisa, who’s struggling due to a lack of full-time hours.  The experience was emotional for Shelly as she recalled her dad’s last days and the kind of care he deserved.
Back in the boardroom, Mrs. Sun shared her to-do list with the support staff.  They brainstormed how to get Lisa more hours by perhaps pooling hours with other offices.  They discussed how to get the caregivers in the assistant living facility to train each other, versus the family of the client, or even the client having to train the staff.  She brought up Arelene’s feeling of being considered the black sheep.
During the big reveal the unsuspecting employees were dumbfounded and had no clue who she was.  To James, Shelly gave him lots of compliments on the great job he’s doing.  She also offered to hire a career coach to help guide him to help reach all of his possible potential.  BrightStar also gave him $5,000 seed money to help him pursue a business opportunity or further his education.  In addition, they sent him on a week-long vacation for two with $1,000 spending money.  In talking with George, she expressed how touched J.D. was in having had the opportunity to work alongside George. They offered to pay for his last year of school.  They also offered him a global quality care ambassador position to help make sure someone would be on board to help make sure their new sites around the world would be up to the BrightStar standard.  He would get the opportunity to travel the world on BrightStar’s budget.  When she sat down with Arlene, Shelly expressed an admiration for her hard work.  Shelly offered to send Arlene and her daughter a week-long trip to an amusement park.  That gift was nothing compared to the bigger gift BrightStar gave Arlene.  The company is preparing to set up a new assisted living facility in the same area where she lived and they made arrangements for it to be Arlene’s franchise.  BrightStar contributed the franchise fee and Shelly said she would work to try and secure financing.  In talking with Lisa, Shelly was brought to tears of gratitude.  BrightStar is sending Lisa and her husband and their children and her two grandchildren back to Cancun where they had gotten married, to renew their vows with their family there with them and it will be a paid for vacation for Lisa.  In addition, to help offset things due to her husband’s lay off, Shelly also told her they’d be paying her mortgage for the next six months.   All of those that came into contact with Shelly and J.D. during this experiment will be forever changed.  Shelly’s life will be changed forever, too, as she learned to deal with how with the repressed emotions she’d had regarding her father’s death and also spending time working at being a great mom.

Sarah Palin Granted Extension On Protective Order Against Stalker

Sarah Palin - Former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin testified against her teenage stalker again last week.

According to the Associated Press, Sarah Palin testified by phone during a hearing last week that 19-year old Shawn Christy has become more brazen in his threats and her family was worried about him.

Palin also revealed she believed Shawn traveled to Alaska on her birthday in February.

Sarah has since won another protective order against Shawn while her father Chuck Heath and a family friend Kristan Cole who also requested a restraining order was denied.

"All they want to be is left alone," said attorney John Tiemessen, who represents Palin. "We've repeatedly asked the Christys if they would just quit bothering the Palins, the Heaths and the Coles, and they refuse to do so."

Chuck Heath (Palin's father) testified that Shawn Christy and his father have called his Wasilla home many times. Craig Christy continues to call, "ranting and raving," and asking what Heath was going to do about Shawn Christy having an affair with Palin.

"I simply hang up on him," Heath said.

Palin obtained a six-month restraining order last year after claiming Shawn Christy threatened her and her family, said he was buying a one-way ticket to Alaska, and sent a receipt for a gun purchase.

Nirvana panel champions Seattle's grunge legacy

A number of things may come to mind when you think Seattle: Coffee, for one. Rain, for another. But high on that list is, of course, the Aberdeen-founded grunge band Nirvana.
EMP hosted a "Nirvana: From Nowhere to Nevermind" panel on Saturday to celebrate the opening of its new exhibit commemorating the band, which features the world's largest collection of Nivana memorabilia and will be open until April of next year.
The discussion centered on the band's touring days, starting with its beginnings as a scruffy and unwashed garage band to its rise as a worldwide phenomenon. Three people who were along for Nirvana's chaotic touring days – sound engineer Craig Montgomery, drum tech Barrett Jones and guitar tech Earnie Bailey – told a packed room exactly what it was like to be on tour with the icons of grunge.
Not only did the panelists describe the challenge of replacing instruments and equipment faster than the rebellious band could destroy them (Jones remembered drummer Dave Grohl throwing his snare drums toward singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain, who was using his guitar as a bat), but they also described their firsthand experiences of some of the band's craziest adventures.
Bailey recalled going hang gliding with the band on one of its few days off. "It was fantastic, it was so much fun," he said. "I remembered getting down to the ground and thinking it was the most incredible thing I'd ever done. But I figured Kurt's done so much in life ... so I tried to play it cool, and I said, 'Yeah, that was pretty cool,' but then Kurt was like, 'That was the most incredible thing I've done in my life.'"
Despite the fun, the band spent most of its time working. "In a lot of ways, touring is a lot more fun for guys like us than people in the band," Bailey said, because even when the members had days off they were making press appearances or recording new tracks.
Tours were rough, the panel reported. They reminisced about sleeping in airports (the band always traveled by commercial plane), not remembering which city they were in, and treacherous travelling conditions. "Boy," Jones said, "We drove through some heavy snow and some steep mountains on some bald tires ... I'm surprised we're even alive."
But the panel agreed, and millions of Nirvana fans worldwide would agree as well, that the work and discomfort put into these tours was worth it. Even their "MTV Unplugged" show, which Bailey said he was nervous about initially, has become emblematic of the era. "I remember thinking it was a really bad idea," he said of hearing the band's less-than-perfect acoustic rehearsals for the show. "But then somehow they really pulled it off," he said. "There was a moment at the end of 'The Man Who Sold the World' where the guitars and cello were playing together ... it was really otherworldly."
And that's exactly what Nirvana was: Otherworldly. The poster band for grunge, whose legacy was interrupted by the death of front man Kurt Cobain, was undeniably one of the most influential bands of its era.
A slideshow of pictures of the band playing and partying provided background for the panel. A number of those pictures, as well as an exhaustive amount of memorabilia (including one of Cobain's notorious cardigans) can be seen at EMP's special exhibit. It is, of course, only fitting that the largest Nirvana exhibit is located in the band's home city. Nirvana has undoubtedly integrated itself into Seattle's identity.
The mention of Nirvana can hardly come without thought of Cobain's 1994 suicide. But despite the band's tragic end to a short-lived existence , there was no sense of solemnity or gloom among the panelists. Instead, there was a happy nostalgia in the words spoken.
"A Nirvana show was the funniest thing you'd ever see in your life," Montgomery said. "In spite of everything that happened after, it's important for everyone to remember that Nirvana was above all a funny band."

Michael Douglas' ex-wife tries to revive lawsuit for 'Wall Street 2' salary

The battle between Michael Douglas and his ex-wife over his "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" paycheck is heading back to a New York court after Diandra Douglas' first lawsuit was dismissed in November 2010
According to the Associated Press, lawyers for both sides were in court on Tuesday over Diandra Douglas' continuing efforts to get half the Academy Award-winning actor's take from the 2010 movie.
Diandra Douglas' first lawsuit was thrown out in November by a New York judge who said the dispute belonged in California, where the couple divorced in 2000 after 23 years together.
"After balancing all competing interests and factors, the California court is the more convenient forum for this matter to be tried," the presiding judge, state Supreme Court Justice Matthew F. Cooper, wrote at the time.
Her lawyers asked the judge Tuesday to reconsider.
The couple's 23-year union ended in a multi-million dollar divorce settlement. Diandra Douglas has made $6.3 million since their divorce from her stake in his residual proceeds from other projects, according to The Associated Press. The actor later married Catherine Zeta-Jones in Nov. 18, 2000. Zeta-Jones publicist recently announced the actress checked into a mental health facility for bipolar disorder.
Michael Douglas' lawyer noted his recent fight with throat cancer and said his ex "should be ashamed of herself" for seeking more money when she's gotten more than $51 million from him in the divorce and her stake in some earnings afterward, according to the wire service.
Her lawyers, meanwhile, mentioned his recent purchase of a $5 million-plus home near New York and his children's private schools.
"I've always behaved as a lady, and I always intend to do so in the future," Diandra Douglas said. "I think the facts speak for themselves."
Michael Douglas wasn't at court. His lawyer, Marilyn B. Chinitz, said his former wife's claim was meritless, and "she ought to get the message and move on."
Last year the former couple has appeared in court together for their son's drug possession trial. Cameron Douglas was sentenced to five years in prison on April 20.
During a May interview with The Today Show, Douglas talked about his son's troubles saying, "I've taken blame about being a bad father." He added, "as far as his mother [Diandra] was concerned, she was a very young mother when she had Cameron, and her skills were limited to such an extent."

Scarlett Johansson - Scarlett Johansson Moves In With Sean Penn

Scarlett Johansson has moved into Sean Penn's $3.8 million Malibu house, according to U.S Weekly Magazine. Scarlet Johansson has reportedly been dating the Oscar winning actor for several weeks now. Scarlett and Sean's romance was first reported after they were spotted dining together in Mexico.
Although the couple's respective representatives claim that the pair are "just friends", it is understood that the 26-year-old actress has moved into Penn's luxurious home in Los Angeles. Johansson has spent moths living in a West Hollywood hotel since splitting from her husband Ryan Reynolds back in December 2010. Scarlett hit the headlines earlier this week after she and Penn were photographed jogging with Owen Wilson, sparking online pregnancy rumours. Johansson's representative was quick to quash the speculation, saying, "Scarlett is not pregnant. She's been training for The Avengers for over four months and is in the best shape of her life".

DC Mayor Arrested, Released for Budget Protest (Video)

Washington, DC Mayor Vincent Gray and six city council members were arrested on Monday, April 11 for protesting the federal budget deal, which Gray said violated the rights of his city.

“This is an absolute travesty. D.C. deserves to be free,” he said, according to a city news release. “All we want to do is spend our own money.”

The recent federal budget compromise restores a school voucher program in D.C., forbids D.C. tax money from paying for abortions for poor women, and from funding a needle exchange program meant to prevent the spread of blood borne diseases. The restrictions apply to city tax dollars, not federal funds. The restrictions on city programs were riders included in the tax compromise.

District Representative Sharon Holmes Norton, who represents D.C. but cannot vote in the House, told the Associated Press, "We got bargained away, I don't know for what." She cursed Congress in an interview on MSNBC.

No other city is subject to decisions made by Congress in the same way as D.C.
Gray appeared on MSNBC television still wearing his plastic jail ID bracelet. He said he planned to keep wearing it to remind people of the poor treatment from Washington, D.C, and that he wanted an explanation.

Mayor Gray, City Council Chairman Kwame Brown, Councilmembers Muriel Bowser, Tommy Wells, Michael Brown, Yvette Alexander, and Sekou Biddle sat down on Constitution Avenue near the Senate. According to Gray, 41 people in all were arrested.

Capitol police handcuffed them. An AP article shows a photo of the mayor being searched by Capitol police. The elected representatives were arrested, but released Monday evening.

A group of residents gathered at the jail to applaud them, according to a statement from the city.

Fracking Protesters Draw Profanity Complaints

Fracking, the method of fracturing rocks with high pressure water - is beginning to stir some controversy for one Texas city. The mayor of Southlake Texas says people are complaining to City Hall about signs that pun the drilling term "fracking" as a substitute for profanity.

Southlake Mayor John Terrell said Town Hall has received numerous complaints about the signs, which bear messages such as "Get the frack out of here" and "Don't frack with me," but he told the City Council during a meeting that the signs are protected by being on private property, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Wednesday.

"We cannot regulate the content of these signs based on freedom of speech, which is protected under the First Amendment," Terrell said. "I just bring this to everyone's attention so that the folks who put up the signs know that there has been numerous complaints lobbed against those."

The signs are protesting XTO Energy's planned gas drilling at the Milner Ranch, which was approved by the City Council in February. The use of "frack" on the signs refers to "fracking," the drillers' process for fracturing rocks by shooting water, sand and chemicals into the ground at high pressure.

Jessie J Not Keen on Fame

JESSIE J doesn’t want to be famous.
The Do It Like a Dude singer insists she isn’t interested in being a celebrity and only wants to make music to inspire people.
“I didn’t come into this industry to be famous or to go to all the cool parties,” she said.
“I want to use my music to help people who are bombarded with negativity through the media and in some cases day-to-day life I want to bring them hope.”
The 22-year-old pop star – who has had an irregular heart beat from the age of 11 — was inspired to pursue her musical dream after she suffered a minor stroke at the age of 18.
“Of course that spurred me on to do what I’ve done. Life is not guaranteed to anyone and it made me realize that I had no time to waste. Age is just a number and life is what you make it,” she said.
“I’ve survived to this point and even though it may only be now that I’m in the public eye, I’ve been around the music business for six years now.”

Sterger Set to Speak About Favre

Jenn Sterger, the former New York Jets hostess involved in the Brett Favre "sexting" scandal, will give her first interview since the incident to George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America this week, USA Today reported. The two-part interview will air on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sterger has maintained a low profile since October when the story broke that Favre had sent her lewd voice messages and photographs while both were working for the Jets in 2008.
The Deadspin website published the messages and an alleged photo of the quarterback's privates that allegedly had been sent to the former model, 27.
Favre later admitted to leaving messages but denied sending the photos. The NFL fined him $50,000 in December for a lack of cooperation in its investigation, but did not determine that he violated the league's conduct policy.
St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is set to become the majority owner of the British soccer club Arsenal, the second NFL owner to be in control of an English Premier League team. The Glazer family, which owns the Buccaneers, also owns Manchester United. Kroenke already owns 30 percent of the club and is set to purchase another 32 percent. Then, as majority owner, he must offer to buy out all the remaining shareholders. Arsenal is valued at about $1.25 billion.
COLLEGES: Former La Salle center Aaric Murray, a sophomore who decided to transfer, returned from a visit to Oklahoma State. The 2009-10 Big Five rookie of the year will visit DePaul next. West Virginia is also under consideration.
Freire Charter grad Ramon Galloway, a sophomore guard who averaged 10.7 points a game at South Carolina, has given an oral commitment to transfer to LaSalle. He must sit out next season.

Amare Stoudemire out Friday

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Amare Stoudemire's sprained ankle is a more serious injury than the Knicks first believed, and he missed Friday night's 116-93 win against the New Jersey Nets and may miss New York's game Sunday in Indiana, too.
"Looking at the replays, it's a little bit worse than what we thought," coach Mike D'Antoni said after the team's morning shootaround Friday. "But again, he played on it, and he's fine. Just a little swollen, and he'll have a chance on Sunday. But if not, then probably Tuesday [vs. Chicago] or Wednesday [at Boston]."
Chauncey Billups (bruised thigh) took part in the morning shootaround and was in the starting lineup alongside Landry Fields, Shelden Williams, Shawne Williams and Carmelo Anthony.
The Nets were without Deron Williams, who will undergo surgery Monday in Manhattan to remove bone particles and scar tissue from his right wrist. Kris Humphries (bruised heel, sprained ankle) also sat out for the Nets.
Stoudemire injured his left ankle Wednesday night when he landed on the foot of Philadelphia's Thaddeus Young while challenging a breakaway in the fourth quarter of the Knicks' 97-92 victory over the 76ers.
This was only the second game Stoudemire has missed all season, both against the Nets in Newark.
"He would have probably played if it wasn't [swollen]. But we just want to make sure he's 100 percent. He's not right now, but he will be in a couple days," D'Antoni said. "Maybe three or four days. We'll be cautious Sunday. If it's perfect, then he'll play. If not, then we'll wait another two days."

Daryl Hannah Faces Huge Tax Bill

Daryl Hannah has been hit with a bill for over $62k in unpaid taxes.
Daryl Hannah, star of Kill Bill and Splash, is in trouble with the IRS, AZ Central reports.
The actress, who is reported to be worth around $15 million dollars, is apparently in talks with the Inland Revenue Service regarding the federal lien.
Her manager Chuck Binder appeared unconcerned about the news: "I just made a deal for her. So whatever kind of things that are owed, if she does owe, will get cleaned up next week."
This is not the first time the actress has run into legal trouble. An outspoken environmentalist, Hannah was arrested in 2009 after becoming embroiled in a protest against 'open top' coalmining with the Massey Energy Company. Hannah was amongst 30 activists who formed a road block outside the company's plant. Hannah was arrested but later released. She was also arrested in California in 2006 under similar circumstances, when she chained herself to a tree in LA to protest the bulldozing of an urban garden.
Hannah, 50, has just finished filming independent film 'Garbage' with fellow Kill Bill co-star MICHAEL MASDEN. She is reportedly signed up to several more film projects this year, including 3-D comedy horror 'El Dorado.'

Drea de Matteo

DREA De Matteo has given birth to a baby boy.
The Sopranos actress — who also appeared in Friends spin-off Joey alongside Matt Le Blanc — and her musician fiance Shooter Jennings welcomed their second child into the world this week.
Hierophant rocker Shooter announced the happy new on his Twitter account on Thursday, and revealed he and Drea had decided to name the tot after his late father, country music star Waylon Jennings.
“Waylon Albert ‘Blackjack’ Jennings has arrived folks!” he wrote.
Lots of the couple’s friends took to the micro-blogging site to congratulate them, with one well-wisher being Samantha Ronson.
And the DJ — the ex-girlfriend of Lindsay Lohan — is already making plans for the baby when he gets older.
“Congratulations to @ShooterJennings on the arrival of his new baby boy!! Can’t wait to take him to a casino! (sic)” she wrote.
Drea, 39, and Shooter, 31, already have a three-year-old daughter Alabama Gypsy Rose together.
The couple got engaged on June 11, 2009, when the musician proposed to the actress on stage during a concert at the Stanley Center in Utica, New York.
The baby’s grandfather Waylon famously escaped death while he was touring with Buddy Holly as his bass player.
He was due to be a passenger on the plane that crashed and killed the Peggy Sue singer on February 3, 1959, but gave up his seat to singer-and-songwriter J.P. ‘The Big Bopper’ Richardson.

Natalie Portman

Chicago Bulls Honor Scottie Pippen with Statue

Scottie Pippen, six-time NBA champions, Bulls legend and Michael Jordan's famous sidekick got his moment in the spotlight on Thursday night as the Chicago Bulls honored him at halftime with a new statue.

During the ceremony, Pippen gave credit of his success. to the franchise and the fans.
‘‘Without the push from [the fans], none of this would have happened,’’ Pippen said . ‘‘From the bottom of my heart, I really want to thank the Bulls organization, Mr. Jerry Reinsdorf, for this. This is truly special.’’
That's typical Scottie, always modest and somewhat uncomfortable with all of the attention.  Those are the qualities that made him the perfect No. 2 to Michael Jordan and how he endeared himself to so many Chicago hopefuls.
Nothing had changed and that's a good thing.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

"Whatever it is, it's going to have to wait until May 24th. After the finale!" Chmerkovskiy told Us Weekly following Monday night's performance show. "No big deal. I'll be fine... It'll take a stretcher to get me out of here! I'll be okay."

The professional dancer's leg gave out as he supported actress and former Kirstie Alley's Big Life star Kirstie Alley in a move where he whisked her across the floor during their rumba to "Over the Rainbow." While he composed himself and resumed dancing after shaking off the fall, Chmerkovskiy was wincing and grimacing in pain noticeable during the remainder of the routine.

Pringles

The deal is the biggest in a stack of acquisitions for Diamond and will more than triple the size of the maker of Emerald nuts and Pop Secret popcorn.
Adding Pringles will make it a distant second in the snack business to PepsiCo's Frito-Lay, which controls nearly half of the market.
The move also lets P&G complete its exit from all its major food businesses. The maker of Tide and Pampers has sold off Folgers coffee, Jif peanut butter, Crisco Shortening and Sunny Delight drinks in recent years.
The Pringles deal will create a new company under the Diamond Foods name. P&G shareholders will get about 57 percent of the combined company and Diamond shareholders about 43 percent.
Diamond, founded in 1912 by a group of California walnut growers, was known for nuts in shells for most of its history. But since Diamond went public in 2005, an acquisition binge has broadened its array of snacks. It scooped up Pop Secret in 2008 and Kettle potato chips last year.
The Pringles transaction will dwarf those deals, more than tripling Diamond's revenue to about $2.4 billion a year.
"Pringles is an iconic, billion-dollar snack brand with significant global manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure," Diamond Chairman, President and CEO Michael J. Mendes said in a statement.

Manufacturing in U.S. Expands Near Seven-Year High on Inventory Rebuilding

Manufacturing in the U.S. expanded in March at close to the fastest pace in almost seven years, reinforcing signs the industry will propel growth in the world’s largest economy.
The Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing index was little changed at 61.2, after February’s 61.4 reading that was the highest since May 2004, the Tempe, Arizona-based group’s report showed today. Figures greater than 50 signal expansion.
Companies like Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) and United Technologies Corp. (UTX) are benefiting as production, fueled by inventory rebuilding at the start of the recovery, gets an added boost from rising demand in the U.S. and overseas. The strength in manufacturing is also generating job gains, a necessary ingredient to a sustained expansion.

A strong earthquake struck the southern Greek island of Crete Friday, rattling buildings as far away as Egypt and Turkey. Local police said they had no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 and struck off the southern coast of Crete at 4:29 p.m. (1329 GMT, 8:29 EDT), the Athens Geological Institute and the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam, Germany, said. The U.S. Geological Survey gave a slightly lower preliminary magnitude of 5.9. Magnitudes recorded by geological institutes often differ.

Second wave of Opening Day starts with Roy Halladay and the Phillies

The second wave of Opening Day games begin today. There are nine home openers on tap, 11 games in all.
The day begins with National League Cy Young winner Roy Halladay on the mound as he and the Philadelphia Phillies host the Houston Astros. It ends with American League Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez and Seattle Mariners ace against the Oakland Athletics.
The nine openers (all times ET): Astros at Phillies, 1:05 p.m.; Pirates at Cubs, 2:20; White Sox at Indians, 3:05; Red Sox at Rangers, 4:05; Diamondbacks at Rockies, 4:10; Twins at Blue Jays, 7:07; Orioles at Rays, 7:10; Mets at Marlins, 7:10; and Mariners at Athletics, 10:05.

Arizona Diamondbacks (0-0) at Colorado Rockies (0-0), 4:10 p.m.

A pair of National League West members coming off disappointing campaigns from a year ago start off their 2011 seasons this afternoon at Denver's Coors Field, where the Colorado Rockies play host to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of a three-game series.
After making the playoffs as a wild card entry in 2009, Colorado entered last season with high expectations and one of the favorites to win the NL West. Though the Rockies contended for the division crown into September, the club stumbled badly down the stretch by dropping 13 of its final 14 games and finished with an 83-79 record, nine less victories than the previous year.
Despite residing in the same division as the defending world champion San Francisco Giants, Colorado is expected to vie for a postseason berth once again in 2011. The Rockies return all of their core players from last season, including three of the game's bright young stars in left fielder Carlos Gonzalez, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and ace pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.
"What we've done and what this organization has accomplished over the last four years with a National League championship [in 2007], a Wild Card championship and three winning seasons over the last four years, two of which we've won 90 to 90-plus games, we know how to be good," Rockies manager Jim Tracy told MLB.com. "The challenge that was set forth [in spring training] was, are we willing to make the commitment to be great?"
Colorado performed like a top-level team during the spring, compiling a 20-11 record in Cactus League games.

Six Outrageous Office Pranks

Nothing livens up the work day or gets HR's attention better than a good old office prank. Here's a collection of some of the best, or worst, depending on your perspective.
Cubicle to Cottage
When a co-worker went away for business, the rest of the office teamed up to give his working space an extreme home makeover. By the time they are done with it, the improved cube has a mailbox and functional ceiling fan.

Prank YouTube Video

An unsuspecting employee opens a link to a to a YouTube video of a dot moving through a maze. Just when they started concentrating on the video, an image of Linda Blair from The Exorcist pops up. Needless to say, not a pleasant experience.

Surprise Meeting

When you exit a Porta Potty, the last thing you expect is to walk out to anything different than the same setting as when you entered. While those being pranked were in the portable toilet, a prop office was set up outside, featuring a long table with a meeting in progress. Confusion ensues.

Labatt Blue Golf Balls

Featured in a Commercial for Canadian beer company Labatt, this office prank could possibly be the most frustrating on the list to clean up. While one employee is in the office, two co-workers fill his car with golf balls. Quite a tedious prank to set up, well worth the reward.

Missing Hallway

Possibly the most intricate prank on the list, these pranksters covered a hallway entrance in their office building with drywall to make it look as if the hallway had never been there in the first place. The video shows the priceless reaction from the company's CEO.

Bathroom Switch

While job applicants are in the interview process, the pranksters set up a bathroom with the door to the bathroom being the door the interviewees used to enter the room. When trying to leave, they are encountered by a man on the toilet who then throws a roll of toilet paper at each of those being pranked.

Rangers want what the Red Sox have

ARLINGTON, Texas — Presumably in record numbers and, for certain, paying unprecedented prices, fans will pour into Rangers Ballpark in Arlington to see the American League’s best Friday.
The Rangers hope that doesn’t apply to them only in a recent history sort of way.
Actually, the Boston Red Sox provide the perfect opening day opposition for the defending AL champions. Despite enjoying their best season ever in 2010, the Rangers want what the Red Sox have.
That’s World Series rings earned in 2004 and 2007.
They want what the Red Sox have in a less tangible sense as well. And that simply means respect.
The Red Sox have been all but handed a trip to the 2011 World Series following their acquisitions of Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford to an already powerful lineup. Despite a rash of injuries, Boston was second only to the Yankees in run scoring a year ago.

Boston Red Sox (0-0) at Texas Rangers (0-0), 4:05 p.m.

The Texas Rangers will unveil their American League championship banner this afternoon when they kick off the 2011 campaign against the Boston Red Sox at Rangers Ball Park in Arlington.
A franchise that had continually failed to find the correct formula for success finally got it right in 2010, with the Rangers concocting an outstanding blend of power, pitching and chemistry that took the AL by storm. The addition of a few veteran stars to a talented young nucleus that came of age led to a 90-win breakthrough and the team's first division title since 1999, and Texas followed up by dispatching both AL East front-runner Tampa Bay and the defending world champion New York Yankees in the playoffs to reach the World Series for the first time in 50 seasons of existence.
Texas' unexpected rise was triggered by two prominent acquisitions that occurred six months apart. The club signed former AL MVP Vladimir Guerrero to a free-agent contract prior to spring training, providing a dangerous presence to the heart of the batting order, then later made the most significant move at the trade deadline by landing All-Star pitcher Cliff Lee in mid-July. The standout left-hander was instrumental to the Rangers' unprecedented October run, winning three times during the AL Playoffs and giving the rotation the dominant ace it had been seeking for ages.
