Plenty of athletes tweeted their excitement at the news of Osama bin Laden's death. Rashard Mendenhall, however, wasn't convinced a celebration was in order.
"What kind of person celebrates death?" the Pittsburgh Steelers running back tweeted. "It's amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side..."
He also expressed his opinions on whether the planes that hit the World Trade Center on September 11 caused them to collapse.
"We'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style," Mendenhall said.
Steelers President Art Rooney II addressed Mendenhall's comments in a statement posted on the team's website.
“I have not spoken with Rashard so it is hard to explain or even comprehend what he meant with his recent Twitter comments,” Rooney said. “The entire Steelers’ organization is very proud of the job our military personnel have done and we can only hope this leads to our troops coming home soon.”

Mendenhall is crazy! He needs to just shut up and get ready for the upcoming NFL season (if there is one).
TumugonBurahinI agree with the part about bin laden not being as involved with 9/11 as the gov would like us to think, and i also agree that it is a little hard to believe that a skyscraper that's stronger than most others (because it's built with an exoskeleton instead of internal girders) would completely fall down after a relatively small portion of it was destroyed. the only part that i don't agree with is that he thinks it's wrong to celebrate death. it's understandable that he has an unhealthy fear of death being that he's a christian, but I think death is something that should be embraced for all people, including bin laden. this is just personal belief here but i think that death is just a transition into another phase of your existence in this universe, and like any time someone enters a new phase in their life, it should be met with celebration, not bitterness or sadness. I do think he's spot on with the skepticism about bin laden being behind it though... the gov has been making up threats to its own home security to carry out their own unscrupulous agendas since the 18th century.
