Judge Judy overworked

Judge Judy, who rules the courtroom with an iron fist, was rushed to the hospital after she reported of "not feeling well" while filming an episode at the KTLA Studios in Hollywood. Speaking to TMZ from her hospital bed, the 68-year-old said she felt that she just needed a day to "chill", raising the possibility of her being overworked.
Quoting a studio insider, RadarOnline.com reported Judge Sheindlin was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday morning after she suddenly started saying things that didn't make sense. She was reportedly only two cases deep into her taping when her bizarre behavior prompted her to stop and have a crew member call 911.
"She said, 'I need to stop, I'm not feeling well.'"
"She said couple of sentences that didn't have anything to do with the case and then she stopped speaking and said she wasn't feeling well," the source was quoted as saying.
The celeb judge's rep, Gary Rosen, revealed to several media outlets that she would be at the hospital for an overnight observation.

'Holiday Bandit' Marat Mikhaylich was on way to bank heist No. 10 when he was nabbed

The "Holiday Bandit" was on his way to pull bank heist No. 10 when he was nabbed in Queens, sources told the Daily News on Wednesday.
Inside the stolen cab he was driving, Marat Mikhaylich had a computer printout of directions from his apartment in Jamaica to a Sovereign Bank he'd robbed once before, sources said.
The directions were printed out shortly before he was busted at a red light in Forest Hills on Tuesday.
Mikhaylich also had a printed demand for money he planned to show the teller, and a loaded 9-mm. handgun he had purchased in Virginia last December, sources said.
"He was going back to rob the bank a second time," a source said.
A heroin addict, he was apparently desperate for his next fix.
He told investigators he had shot up dope that morning and was out of cash because the loot from Monday's stickup in New Jersey was stained by the exploding dye pack.
He claimed to have only $5 in his bank account, court records say.
Mikhaylich, who got his nickname because he started his spree during the holiday season, is suspected in nine heists that netted about $80,000.
Assistant Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Darren LaVerne said the Ukrainian-born suspect "poses an extreme risk of flight" if released on bail.
Magistrate Marilyn Go ordered him back to detox treatment at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.

Mike Catherwood voted off

Dancing with the Stars aired the first results show Tuesday, March 29th on ABC. Each week the celebrity contestant who receives the lowest overall score will be voted from the competition. Scores are a combination of judges points awarded for performance quality and votes from Dancing with the Stars viewers. This week, Mike Catherwood earned the lowest score and was voted off.
The scores a Dancing with the Stars contestant receives from the judges are important from a learning standpoint but the fans are what keeps a contestant in the competition. Take Bristol Palin for example. Palin was a Dancing with the Stars contestant last season, she consistently earned the lowest score from the judges, but she had a huge fan base. Those fans kept Palin in the competition until the Dancing with the Stars finals.
Mike Catherwood could have benefited from a large fan base. Fan votes alone might have allowed him to continue dancing on Dancing with the Stars. But being a radio personality, he is not as well known as some of the other Dancing with the Stars celebrity dancers. Had Catherwood been given the opportunity to dance a while longer, his personality alone might have earned more viewer votes. We will never know however, Mike Catherwood was given the boot.

Stefano Langone and Lauren Alaina

Pia Toscano pops back up and said if she makes it back next week she'll perform the Tina Turner song "River Deep Mountain High." Yikes.
Stefano Langone, trying to bounce back from being in the bottom two last week, is taking on one of the best Elton John's ever "Tiny Dancer."
Jimmy Iovine is right, this is going to be a tough night for Langone.
And remember, I've been a big supporter of Langone in the past.
Maybe the problem with all of these performances is that we are all so used to John singing them and making them classics that these are just nothing special in comparison.
It's a version of "Tiny Dancer," not a great one. That's not to say he's a bad singer, because he's not. He really just needs to pick the right song. This wasn't it.
Lopez said she felt he's been taking their notes and is connection more with the audience. Keeps calling him Steffffano.
Jackson said he liked it and he hit the high notes great.
Tyler agrees. Said there is a sweet thing to his voice. Did call his voice a little Broadway.
THAT is what it is.
Uh oh. Lauren Alaina is doing it. She is gambling with "Candle in the Wind."
This is the biggest risk of the night. I would be terrified to try this song.
She was my No. 1 ranked performer last week so she really has a lot to lose as far as I'm concerned.
Alaina really seemed to enjoy her big photoshoot.
She said she can relate to this song. Hopefully.
How much of a country flavor will she bring to it?
I'm comfortable enough to say this song always gets to me.
OK, I am kind of digging this. It's different enough, but not a drastic cover. She is faithful enough to the source material, but puts her own flavor into it without going overboard.
Jackson said it was one of her best performances ever on that stage! Wow.
Tyler said he loved her since she first set eyes on him, yes he said that. He said it was the right song for her.
Lopez said it was amazing. She said "that was it baby, best of the night!"

Where Republicans Put on Neo-Pagan Pageants

You can imagine my enjoyment in seeing Bohemian Grove popping up here and there across the aether.  I am a collector of conspiracy theories in the same way Albus Dumbledore collects memories.
I came across Bohemian Grove while browsing a book once—can’t remember the title at this point.  I remember turning a page and seeing this forest scene, with a semi-circle of tables and hordes of men staring up at a cameraman, who must have been positioned on an elevated walkway (like the Ewoks) or else he’d scaled a redwood.  It was rather frightening and absurd at the same time.  What were these men doing eating a meal in a semi-circle in the middle of a forest?
Another photograph showed Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan flanking the then Bohemian chief Harvey Hancock.  As I researched Bohemian Grove, I learned that it was founded by a group of San Francisco journalists and artists—men of a more progressive spirit.  They desired to support the theatrical arts at Bohemian Grove, but soon realized that they needed money to accomplish their goal.
What did they do?  They started to invite Republican businessmen and political leaders.  In fact, every Republican president since 1923 has attended the midsummer encampment.  Their ranks swelled with Republicans until it became a summer Republican retreat filled with pageants, dinners, naked tomfoolery, pagan rituals, a great fake stone owl voiced by Walter Cronkite and the motto “Weaving Spiders Come Not Here.”
The Bohemians have logged the Grove however they saw fit for many years, but environmentalists like the Sierra Club have gone after the Grove for divesting itself of acres to fall below the 2500 acre threshhold to keep its 100-year logging permit.  According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “Sonoma County Judge Rene Chouteau ruled that California forestry officials violated the Environmental Quality Act when it approved the club’s logging plan for the Bohemian Grove in 2009.”

St Louis Post Dispatch Reporter Apologizes for Painter Error

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The St Louis Post Dispatch source who said that Matt Painter was heading to Mizzou was in error. The source for Post Dispatch reporter Bernie Miklasz had claimed early today that Painter had accepted for Mizzou. But shortly thereafter, Jeff Rabjohns of the Indianapolis Star reported that no such acceptance call was even made. “At this hour, Matt Painter has not called either Missouri or Purdue with a decision, sources confirmed.”
Bernie Miklasz later told readers he was sorry. “I take pride in my reporting and my cred[ibility], so if this has blown up on me, then all I can do is apologize profusely.” He added “And I know that isn’t good enough for many of you. But my embarrassment is profound”.
Painter erroneous reports started over the weekend, when another report, elsewhere, claimed that Painter had accepted for Mizzou. At that point, Painter had even been talking with the school. “At the end of the day, my heart is at Purdue, and this is a place where I want to win a national championship” said Painter in a statement to news today.

Brandon Belt makes SF Giants' roster

A conga line of Giants approached Brandon Belt's locker to welcome the kid to the 25-man roster Wednesday afternoon. When Buster Posey arrived, he offered a handshake and just two words:
"Beller, congratulations."
Beller?
Perfect. Hey, Major League Baseball, make way for Buster & Beller. The B&B Boys. If Belt makes a splash in 2011 anywhere near Posey's in 2010, the rest of the National League West is in trouble.
The Giants made it official Wednesday, confirming what was expected earlier in the week. They made Belt their starting first baseman, and with a name like Belt, who really needs a nickname?
"I've been dreaming of this my entire life. It's come true now," said Belt, who cried when hearing the good news from manager Bruce Bochy and remained teary-eyed long afterward. "I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. I want to cry at the same time. I don't know what to think right now."
Travis Ishikawa was designated for assignment because the Giants no longer needed a defensive-minded first baseman even though Ishikawa was at times a dandy pinch-hitter. Belt's game is all-encompassing. He's an above-average defender, and management obviously believes he is ready offensively.

Clueless's Stacey Dash Hasn't Aged a Day

Stacey Dash played Camille on The Game back when it was on the CW network in 2009. Fans of the cult flick Clueless were in heaven—it was good to see Dionne in action! But then the show took a two-year break, and when it resurfaced on BET Stacey was gone. Until last night, that is! Much to the delight of thousands of Tweeters, she reappeared on the finale—looking better than ever.
Now, what you may not realize is that when Stacey played 16-year-old Dionne in 1995, she was actually 29 years old, which means she is now 45! Unbelievable, right? Especially because you can barely tell the difference between how she looks today (left) and how she looks in the Clueless cast picture in ‘95, at right. There must be something it that Beverly Hills water.

Jennifer Aniston

The "Friends" star will step behind the camera to direct a short film on breast cancer for a Lifetime TV series. The actress said in a statement to Us Magazine, "Our hope with 'Project Five' is to entertain, inform and inspire dialogue, research, and prevention. Otherwise, our goals are small."

Demi Moore To Direct Breast Cancer Movie

Demi Moore, the American actress and star of 'Ghost' and 'Disclosure', is set to team up with the likes of Alicia Keys and Jennifer Aniston, who are all creating individual short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people's lives, reports Variety. 'Project Five' will be an anthology of short films, each one directed by a different celebrity. Moore, Aniston, Keys, Patty Jenkins have signed up to the project and a yet to be named fifth filmmaker will also join in the near future. 42-year-old Aniston, who recently starred in the hit comedy movie 'Just Go With It', will act as executive producer with her 'Friends' colleague Martha Kauffman. The movies are to be aired on 'Lifetime' and the network's President Nancy Dubuc said, "I'm a big fan of this amazing group of powerful and creative women, and we are thrilled to be working with them on 'Project Five'. It's an awesome feeling to be able to give them such a strong platform to do what they do best - entertain and tell great stories - so that we all educate viewers about breast cancer through these five films of courage, love and hope". Moore produced and starred in a similar project back in 1996, Hbo's 'If These Walls Could Talk', which explored the subject of abortion.

Jessica Simpson

The singer says she is open to eloping: The star, who is engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson, told Women's Wear Daily, "We're enjoying our commitment to each other. We want to take our time. We might elope if it gets to that point.

Maria Sharapova wins Key Biscayne marathon

Sharapova rallied to beat No. 26-seeded Alexandra Dulgheru 3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) in a match that ended at 12:19 a.m. Sharapova's opponent Thursday will be No. 21 Andrea Petkovic, who reached the semifinals with her second upset in two days, beating No. 6 Jelena Jankovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Petkovic eliminated No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in the fourth round.
Sharapova's match took 3 hours, 28 minutes. She won despite 17 double-faults and twice as many unforced errors as Dulgheru.
Sharapova turned her ankle late in the third set and required treatment from a trainer in the middle of a game, but the injury didn't appear to affect her.

Maewyn's Irish Pub lands deal with Sovereign Bank Stadium

The York Revolution has announced a partnership with Maewyn's Irish Pub & Restaurant as the new caterer for the Bud Light Picnic Pavilion at Sovereign Bank Stadium.
Located at 110 N. George St. in downtown York, Maewyn's is only two blocks from the ballpark.
"It's a logical partnership, since the Revolution and Maewyn's are both proud to be part of the action downtown," said Revolution vice president for business development Neil Fortier.
The Bud Light Picnic Pavilion is located beyond the right-field wall at Sovereign Bank Stadium. As picnic pavilion caterer, Maewyn's will handle the various all-you-can-eat and group picnic event options the Revolution offers. The menu and picnic options are available at YorkRevolution.com.
White Rose Bar & Grill had been the caterer for the Bud Light Picnic Pavilion for the past two years.
"We look forward to partnering with the York Revolution as another way to serve York City and York County," said Ken Painter of Heritage Hospitality Management, the parent company of Maewyn's.
Ettline entered into a three-year agreement to be the official food service provider for the Revolution earlier in the offseason.

Watch Chris Brown Perform on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Chris’ performance on DWTS came with some controversy after he allegedly broke a window in anger at the Good Morning America studios when he was asked about Rihanna.

However, after Chris performed he received a standing ovation from the DWTS judges and audience.

But not everyone is ready to forgive the singer.

According to MTV, a Tweet from @Sweetprincess17 read, “I did not watch ” Dancing with the Stars” last night until the last 2 minutes. I boycotted the show cause of Chris Brown He sickens me.” Still another from @Natty3K read, “So Chris Brown Died His Hair Back To Normall .. True & His performance On Dancing With The Stars Was Sick.”

Sara Ramirez and cast of Grey’s Anatomy

Fans of the ABC show “Grey’s Anatomy” will get a chance to hear the characters break out into song on the March 31 episode of the series. Although there will be singing, cast member Sara Ramirez tells viewers that there will be no dancing. “The word ‘musical’ tends to mislead people. Understandably so. The word ‘musical’ implies that there’s dancing, a lot of jazz hands and some kicks and some turns,” Ramirez said in AZ Central.
For Sara Ramirez, the singing in the episode will be nothing new. In 2005 she received a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance of Lady of the Lake in the Broadway musical “Spamalot.” With her musical experience under her belt, Ramirez told E Online that she sympathized with some of her cast mates who had no singing experience.
“Singing can be very confronting and can be overwhelming, a little intimidating if you’re never done it before,” she said.

Carla Gugino Says Playing a Porn Star Was 'Fantastic'

Carla Gugino is back on the big screen as Sebastian Gutierrez’s “Elektra Luxx,” a retired porn star attempting to come to terms with her now “normal” life as a sex-education instructor at her local community center and impending motherhood.
And it turns out that Gugino garnered quite a bit of satisfaction stepping into the shoes of an X-rated sensation.
“Playing this porn star was fantastic; I fell in love with this character Elektra Luxx. We also get to meet her sister Cecilia in this film and I’ve always been fascinated by two people that are raised in the same way but go in two completely different directions,” Luxx told FOX411’s Pop Tarts. “I got to work with such an incredible group of women.  I think I would be a little hesitant to play this kind of character if I didn’t trust implicitly the filmmakers vision and Sebastian (the director) loves women and has that European sensibility so we all felt comfortable jumping into it.”

Injury sidelines Phillies closer Lidge out until May

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The National League favorites Philadelphia Phillies will start the season with top closer Brad Lidge out for at least three to six weeks with a strained right shoulder, the team said.
He will begin the season on the disabled list and is not expected to return to the active roster before the end of May at the earliest.
"Obviously, losing your closer for this amount of time is not something you're looking forward to," Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters.
"On the brighter side, it's not something that needs to be surgically repaired."
The often-injured Lidge, 34, appeared in 50 games for the Phillies last season, saving 27 of 32 opportunities.
Philadelphia opens its Major League season at home on Friday against the Houston Astros.

Blackhawks beat Wings on Marian Hossa’s OT goal

DETROIT — A quick check of the calendar confirmed it’s still March, but the Blackhawks and Red Wings put on a display Monday night usually reserved for a late May postseason battle.
Playing with the sense of urgency and desperation indicative of a team fighting for its playoff life, the Hawks earned a crucial two points in the Western Conference race when they defeated the Wings 3-2 in overtime at Joe Louis Arena.
Marian Hossa, who was approached prior to the game by coach Joel Quenneville and informed he would be double-shifted as the Hawks moved into playoff mode, scored the winner and added an assist to help goaltender Corey Crawford earn his 30th win of the season.
"If you look back over the course of the season, that was the most important win we’ve had at any point," Quenneville said. "Crawford was big in net and everybody played big. I liked how the guys approached the game, and the energy we had right from the outset was exactly what we’re looking for. It was a playoff game for us. It was a great hockey game."

Steve-O Arrested in Canada For 2003 Incident

Jackass star Steve-O was arrested in Canada for assault with a weapon, stemming from an incident that occurred eight years ago, TMZ reports.
Steve-O (real name: Stephen Gilchrist Glover) was stopped Sunday by customs after exiting a plane at Calgary International Airport. Officials noticed there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest dating back to 2003 — when he was accused of attacking someone — and placed behind bars.
The TV star, 36, appeared before a judge a short time later and was eventually released on $10,000 bail.
Steve-O was in Calgary to perform three comedy shows at the local Laugh Shop. He is due back in court in May.

Maria Sharapova stays perfect at Sony Ericsson Open

There have been some matches where I felt like little pieces start coming together," Sharapova, a Wimbledon champion at 17 and the world's No. 1 player as recently as 2007, said Monday. "When I came back after missing so many tournaments and matches, the first thing I just noticed was how those natural instincts just go away so much."
The instincts have certainly been there for her the past two weeks at the Sony Ericsson Open. Sharapova, seeded 16th and playing in the tournament for the first time in 2007, continued her perfect streak at the Sony by easily discarding No. 4 seed Samantha Stosur 6-4, 6-1 on Monday. Sharapova has not dropped a set in three matches, and will play No. 26 seed Alexandra Dulgheru in today's quarterfinals.
She also has an easier path to the final after Monday's matches. Caroline Wozniacki, the world No. 1 and the top-seeded player at the Sony, fell to No. 21 seed Andrea Petkovic 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, the first time in three years that Wozniacki has failed to reach the tournament's quarterfinals. No. 2 seed Kim Clijsters played late Monday night.
Sharapova won almost 51 percent of Stosur's service points, keying her victory. She improved to 7-0 lifetime against Stosur.
"In the beginning I thought I made a few more errors on the second serves than I should have," Sharapova said. "I adjusted to that and I became more solid and started going for it a little bit more, and I felt more comfortable."
The top seeds in the men's draw fared better than their female counterparts Monday. Top-seeded Rafael Nadal advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Feliciano Lopez, a fellow left-handed Spaniard. And No. 3 seed Roger Federer survived a tougher-than-expected match over world No. 35 Juan Monaco 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
Nadal, Federer and No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic will all play their round-of-16 matches Tuesday on stadium court. If Nadal and Federer can avoid an upset over their next two matches, they will face each other in the semifinals on Friday night.
"I've been in the semis with Rafael beforehand, so it's not something that's completely new to us," Federer said. "You know, the best players are in the semis usually."
Sharapova isn't looking ahead to the semis just yet. First she must face Dulgheru, a 21-year-old Romanian ranked No. 28 in the world who also has not lost a set this week.
Regardless, Sharapova, 23, is happy to be in the championship conversation again. She has won just two of her 22 tournament championships since her 2008 shoulder surgery, and has never won at the Sony despite two finals appearances. Ranked No. 13 in the world, Sharapova will enter the top 10 after this tournament. She dropped all the way to No. 126 in 2009 after her surgery because of inactivity.

Book Was a Labor of Love For Actress Susan Lucci

SUSAN Lucci says her new book has been a “labor of love”.
The Daytime Emmy winner’s memoir, All My Life, hits the shelves later this month.
“It’s been a labor of love,” Lucci said of the tome.
“I’m looking forward to hearing the response. I’ve kept my private life to myself, yet I know there are things in my life that people will identify with, so I’m anxious to hear.”
“I hope they feel good and have been entertained,” Susan said when asked what she hopes readers will take away from the book.
“There are some very public things in my professional life that people already knew about, but [so many] they didn’t or couldn’t know about … I hope they feel they’ve been let in.”

Radiation in Boston rain linked to Japan nuclear crisis

A sample of rainwater in Boston, Mass., showed very low concentrations of radiation, most likely from the damaged Japanese nuclear power power, according to health officials who say the amount does not pose a safety risk. The radioiodine-131 has not affected the drinking water supply and will quickly dissipate, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health said Sunday about the sample taken March 22. State officials said air samples from the same location have shown no detectable radiation, nor did water samples from the Quabbin and Wachusett reservoirs.
"Until the Japan nuclear plant is stabilized, trace amounts of I-131 may continue to be detected as it rains in Massachusetts. However, levels will remain significantly lower and not of any health concern," the state said on its website. It said people should not worry about kids playing in the rain, pets drinking rainwater or people eating vegetables from their garden (although washing them first is always a good idea, it added.)
Trace amounts of radiation have been detected in air samples in several western U.S. states, but again, at levels too small to affect human health. The testing is occurring at more than 100 U.S. sites that are part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Radiation Network monitoring system, which has accelerated its sampling because of the Japanese crisis.

Julia Stiles Celebrates 30Th Birthday

Julia Stiles is celebrating her 30th birthday today (28th March 2011). Julia Stiles, the American actress and star of 'Mona Lisa Smile', turns 30-years-old today, reports the Los Angeles Times. The actress first rose to prominence after starring alongside the late Heath Ledger in '10 Things I Hate About You' and her film career has since included a number of commercial and critical successes, most notably 'Mona Lisa Smile' and 'Save the Last Dance'. In recent years, she has guest starred as 'Lumen Pierce' in the fifth season of 'Dexter', a role that earned her a Golden Globe award nomination. Stiles was scheduled to appear alongside the comedian Dane Cook in the Broadway play 'Fat Pig', but the show's producers have decided to postpone the spring opening. A spokesman for the production cited the "last minute fallout of a key investment" as the reason for the delay, adding, "This did not leave the producers enough time to reacquire the necessary capital and begin rehearsals on schedule to open prior to the Tony Awards cutoff date".
Julia Stiles recently completed work on a movie adaptation of Sylvia Plath's classic novel 'The Bell Jar'. The actress will star as 'Esther Greenwood', the book editor who is slowly taken over by mental illness.

Arnold Palmer Invitational weather

After a clear overnight, temperature forecasts are projected in the 90s for the first time this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Orlando’s Bay Hill Club and Lodge.
The Weather.com forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies and a high of 92 degrees for today’s final round.
As the day moves on, expect the wind to pick up to about 15 MPH, but we shouldn’t see anything like the 25-to-35-MPH gusts we had for Thursday’s first round.
When leaders make the turn to the back nine today, the wind will have already likely become a big part of their shot strategy and/or club selection.

Sarah Lane on being Natalie Portman's ballet double

Of the full body shots, I would say 5 percent are Natalie," Lane, 27, told Entertainment Weekly.
She claims that Portman's head was digitally placed onto her body for many of the complicated dance moves, including the dramatic sequence in the end of the film.
Lane goes on to say that she was the victim of a cover-up calculated to help Portman's chance of winning an Oscar.
"They wanted to create this idea in people's minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar," she said.
She continued: "It is demeaning to the profession and not just to me. I've been doing this for 22 years. Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you're a movie star?"
Lane's accusations come after Portman's fiance, Benjamin Millepied, who also served as the movie's choreographer, downplayed her involvement in the movie and suggested that Portman performed "85 percent" of the dance moves in a recent Los Angeles Times interview.
"There are articles now talking about her dance double [American Ballet Theatre dancer Sarah Lane] that are making it sound like [Lane] did a lot of the work," Millepied said, adding, "But really, she just did the footwork, and the fouettes, and one diagonal [phrase] in the studio. Honestly, 85 percent of that movie is Natalie."
Fox Searchlight dismissed Lane's claims in a statement released over the weekend, saying "We were fortunate to have Sarah there to cover the more complicated dance sequences and we have nothing but praise for the hard work she did. However, Natalie herself did most of the dancing featured in the final film."

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is giving an update on Libya in a televised speech tonight.
It's scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern time from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
The White House says Obama will talk about the actions taken with allies and partners, the transition to NATO command and control, and U.S. policy from here on.

Kate Gosselin -- A Mom On The Move

Nonetheless, Kate Gosselin and three of her adorable offspring -- Aaden, Joel and Colin -- were snapped Thursday stopping by their local dentist's office in Wernersville,. The 35-year-old mother-of-eight looked camera ready, as always, showing off a perfect coif and golden brown tan on the overcast Pennsylvania day.

VCU continues shocking run, stuns Kansas

VCU upset top-seeded Kansas 71-61 to become the third No. 11 seed to advance to the Final Four.

SAN ANTONIO — Behind Jamie Skeen, the net at the south end of the Alamodome was coming down. Snip by joyous snip.

I don't even have any words to say," the Virginia Commonwealth senior said, straining to be heard over the postgame commotion. "Nobody said we could do it, and we're doing it. They said we wouldn't even win the first game against USC, the play-in.
"Look where we're at now."
One of the last at-large entries in an expanded NCAA men's basketball tournament, the No. 11-seeded Rams were assigned to a new opening round of games and required to win five games — not four — to reach the Final Four. Critics insisted that was too good for them, that the fourth-place team from the mid-major Colonial Athletic Association didn't belong in the field at all.
Five improbable wins later, the latest Sunday's 71-61 stunner against top-seeded Kansas, they are pointed to Houston and a Final Four matchup Saturday with Butler.
They're the third double-digit seed to get that far and the first since CAA co-member George Mason in 2006.

Hamaoui evolves into iPPV venture for Dragon Gate

Back in 2001, when Sal Hamaoui, owner of Full Impact Pro Wrestling, and co-owner of DragonGate USA and Evolve, started a streaming video company, the Internet wasn't ready. But now that most of North America is on a broadband network, he's marrying up his companies with live broadcasts of anticipated events -- including this weekend's DGUSA show in Atlanta.
Everything has been beta tested, and he's counting down the days to the show on Saturday, April 2nd.
It's a big change for Hamaoui, who has really been involved in DVD production for the past decade, including doing the widely-circulated, popular Ring of Honor and SHIMMER DVDs.

'She informed us that she and Jim were having their wedding at her home and apologised ahead of time for all the construction and cargo trucks that would be coming in and out of the community.'

Kopitar injured in 4-1 victory over Avs

The Kings gained two more points in the Western Conference standings with a 4-1 victory Saturday afternoon against the Colorado Avalanche at Staples Center, but may have lost a lot more.

Leading scorer Anze Kopitar had to be helped off the ice with an apparent right leg injury with 4 minutes 20 seconds remaining in the second period and did not return. Kopitar, who was playing in his 330th straight game, did not put any weight on the leg after he tangled with Colorado's Ryan O'Byrne along the boards.

The Kings were playing their second game without second-leading scorer Justin Williams, who suffered a dislocated shoulder Monday in a 2-1 shootout victory against visiting Calgary and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season.

More to come from the locker room.

Freida Pinto

The "Slumdog Millionaire" star is in a controversial new movie, called "Miral." The actress plays a Palestinian teacher growing up in war-torn Jerusalem camp. Although the Los Angeles Times calls the movie "melodrama over politics," Pinto said, "I saw the film as a cry for peace."

Lady Gaga Taunted

Lady Gaga’s friends leave “mounds of cheeseburgers” in her dressing room because they know she can’t eat them.

The ‘Judas’ singer likes to take her friends as support acts on tour, but said they play cruel tricks on her, like leaving her junk food treats she can’t indulge in, due to her strict diet.

In a Google Moderator interview - which saw her answer questions submitted by fans - she explained: “I don’t like surprises and I don’t like pranks.

“But I have had very few famous acts open for me, it’s mostly been underground acts and DJs, people that I’ve known since I was 18.

“Very often they make jokes about my diet, because I have to stay so in shape for music videos and performances, they play jokes like leaving mounds of cheeseburgers in my dressing room and stuff. It's really awful. It's vicious”

Gaga, 24, is said to have used extreme dieting methods to stay slim early on in her career.

In Maureen Callahan's 2010 book 'Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga', the musician’s former tour manager David Ciemny claimed she would binge on junk food such as cakes and sweets, then not eat for weeks to fit into her costumes - once allegedly losing 20lbs between fittings for one of her outfits.

Britney Spears: Sex Made Britney Spears

BRITNEY Spears says she was “confused” and “disgusted” when she learned about sex at the age of 12.
In a recent magazine interview, the Toxic singer was asked when she first spoke to her parents about the birds and the bees.
“When I was 12 years old. From my mom. I was confused and disgusted,” she said.
Spears also revealed her hidden talents.
“I love to cook,” she said. “I also make a mean Southern sweet tea from a recipe my mom passed on to me. It’s really good. I make it for my boys all the time.”
Spears recently revealed that she would consider “pull and tuck” surgery.
“When it’s time to pull and tuck, I’m sure I will consider it,” she said.

Mila Kunis

The “Black Swan” starlet has been cast as a witch in “Oz, the Great and Powerful,” a prequel to the classic “Wizard of Oz.” James Franco has also been cast, and according to Variety, several high profile stars, including Keira Knightley and Amy Adams, are being considered for other roles.

Manchurian Candidate: Frank Sinatra or Denzel Washington

The 1962 film the Manchurian Candidate is a certified classic. The political thriller was so good that it earned the best tribute it could get. A remake. In 2004, Denzel Washington took on the role originally played by Frank Sintra.
There was of course some updating in the remake, some new tweets, and lots of color. But the original black and white, still holds it own. So which one is better and what has been said in comparing the two films? Most film fans who were familiar with the original political thriller tend to side with the 1962 version. But under the direction of Johnathan Demme with a cast that included along side Denzel the likes of Meryl Streep and Liev Schreilber, they do a fabulous job. It’s a strong piece of cinema that comes as a fresher, bright version of the dark and foreboding original.

Celebrations galore as Butler secures second trip to Final Four

When the final buzzer sounded on Butler's 74-71 victory over Florida in the Southeast Regional final, the Bulldogs secured their second consecutive trip to the Final Four.

As you can imagine, Butler fans were pretty happy about that.

Here is several celebration videos posted on YouTube after the game.

- More outdoor celebrations, this time with fire trucks and police cars!

Butler, Connecticut Win to Advance to NCAA Basketball National Semifinals

Butler University will make its second consecutive appearance and the University of Connecticut will play for a fourth time in the national semifinals of college basketball’s men’s tournament.
Butler beat the University of Florida 74-71 in overtime yesterday and Connecticut defeated the University of Arizona 65- 63 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament.
No. 8 Butler will play the winner of today’s Southwest regional final, between No. 11 Virginia Commonwealth and Kansas, the only remaining No. 1 seed, for a place in the championship game.
“I’m incredibly proud of these guys -- they carried their coach today in a big way,” Butler coach Brad Stevens told reporters. “I got out-coached big time, but our assistants did a great job and our players did a great job.”
Connecticut, ranked third in the West, will play the winner of today’s East regional final, between No. 4 Kentucky and No. 2 North Carolina.
The Huskies (30-9) made the last of their three prior appearances in the national semifinals in 2009. Butler (27-9), which lost to Duke in last year’s national final, has never won the tournament, while Connecticut claimed the title twice, in 1999 and 2004.

Mack Seals Win

Butler overcame an 11-point second-half deficit and Matt Howard’s free throw with 31 seconds left in the second half tied the score at 60-60 before Florida’s Erving Walker missed a 3- point jumper for the win as time expired.
Shelvin Mack hit a 3-pointer with 1 minute, 20 seconds left in overtime to lift the Bulldogs to a 72-70 lead. Mack, who scored 27 points, sealed the victory with two free throws with 11 seconds to go at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans.
“They did everything in their power physically, mentally and emotionally to try to win,” Florida coach Billy Donovan told reporters. “Hopefully our guys that are returning will have a chance to learn from this experience.”
Connecticut led 32-25 at halftime at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Arizona tied it at 34-34 with 15:17 to play and the teams traded the lead four more times before Connecticut went ahead for good on a Jeremy Lamb jump shot with 5:52 to play that made it 56-55.

UNH upsets Miami, 3-1, in NCAA hockey

MANCHESTER — After what we saw in this building two years ago, there's no need to ask University of New Hampshire hockey fans if they believe in miracles.
No miracles were needed Saturday. Just a smart, well-played game from start to finish that has UNH on the cusp of its first Frozen Four since 2003.
Mike Sislo scored the go-ahead goal off a nifty Blake Kessel set-up in the opening minute of the third period, freshman Kevin Goumas scored twice and the fourth-seeded Wildcats (22-10-6) knocked off top-seeded Miami, 3-1, in the Northeast Regional semifinals at the Verizon Wireless Arena, which again is starting to feel like a home away from home.
"We're thrilled," said UNH coach Dick Umile. "We probably played as well as we've played all season from start to finish. ...; I told our team we had to play our best game tonight and I think that's what we did."
The Wildcats, who limped into the NCAAs on a 4-5-1 stretch, will play third-seeded Notre Dame here tonight with a trip to the Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minn., on the line. Notre Dame beat Merrimack in overtime, 4-3, in Saturday's late semifinal.
"We're kind of focused on one thing right now and it's the next step," said Sislo. "We're excited, but we're also looking forward to who we have next."
The Wildcats finished with a 27-22 edge in shots. Their defense blocked scores of Miami chances and their players always seemed to be in the right places to deny rushes from the RedHawks (23-10-6), one of the most explosive teams in the nation who came in on a 13-game unbeaten streak.
"UNH outplayed us tonight," said Miami coach Enrico Blasi. "You guys (media) saw the game. I don't need to tell you that.
"We've been playing on such a high for so long. Tonight wasn't our night. It was UNH's night. They played a very, very good hockey game against a very good team."

The 'Cats had held their own through two periods, holding a slight edge in shots and a larger one in scoring chances. And it was the opening minute of the third period that set things on its final course.
Kessel slid down the boards on the right, just inside the blue line, and spotted Sislo cutting to the net from the left wing. The pass was threaded perfectly onto the tape of the stick of Sislo, who earlier had missed a breakaway and lost another goal after a video review, and he rammed it into the empty net for a 2-1 lead.
"It was a great pass," said Sislo. "That's the type of pass as a forward you dream about."
Goalie Matt DiGirolamo (21 saves), playing in his first NCAA tournament game, had a few big saves to make after that, but not a ton. The 'Cats killed off a penalty to Stevie Moses midway through the period — Bryon Paulazzo hit a crossbar — and when Blasi pulled goalie Cody Reichard (24 saves) with just under two minutes to go, the by-then super-confident 'Cats made them pay almost immediately.

UConn has much to crow

All you need to know is that UConn is 21-0 in games outside the Big East Conference this season, and there are no more Big East teams still dunking and dribbling. Case closed.
Excuse me, some people have been derisively referring to the conference as the Big Least since only two of the 11 members that made the NCAA Tournament advanced to the Sweet 16.
And crusty UConn coach Jim Calhoun had a few words for those naysayers after his team's ninth consecutive postseason victory, coming directly after a 9-9 finish in conference play.
"The ninth-place team in the Big Least is now in the Final Four," Calhoun said pointedly. "I don't know what that means."
I do. It means Calhoun can thumb his nose at anybody he wants.
Whatever you think of the conference, it's undeniably impressive that UConn won five games in as many days during the Big East Tournament - against De Paul, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Louisville - to earn the automatic NCAA berth.
And then the Huskies (30-9) carried that momentum into the NCAA Tournament, knocking off Bucknell, Cincinnati, San Diego State and an Arizona team that had overpowered defending NCAA champion Duke in Thursday's regional semifinal here.

Bonus Awards, Attendance and Live Gate

The bonus awards were in the amount of $55,000.
The following fighters took home extra cash:
Chan Sung Jung was awarded "Submission of the Night" for his second round twister submission over Leonard Garcia.
Johny Hendricks took home the "Knockout of the Night" award for his first round TKO over T.J. Waldburger. This fight was one of three unaired preliminary fights.
Two UFC newcomers put on the "Fight of the Night," Michael McDonald and Edwin Figueroa. At the end of the three round preliminary card fight, McDonald was awarded the unanimous decision victory.
The attendance for the event was 14,212 with a live gate of $1,182,850.

Tx Lottery,Lottery Numbers,Lotto Numbers

Mega Millions jackpot reached $312 million and if a single jackpot-winning ticket is sold in Pennsylvania for example, it will be the largest jackpot ever won in the history of the Pennsylvania Lottery.
If paid in a lump sum,the lottery numbers winner of the $312 Million Mega Millions Lottery would pay more than $60 million in taxes. That means that if you are the lotto numbers winner and you live in Connecticut, you could actually help contribute to closing Connecticut’s state budget deficit!
Winning Mega Millions by having your lottery numbers come up turns you into a instant celebrity like Tx lottery winner Jimmie McCoy.
The married father with seven children originally was living on an income of just $300 a week. But his life changed last Friday, when he walked into a Troup gas station. “They scanned my lotto numbers the next morning and I went to the lottery offices and collected $749,000 after taxes.” McCoy says his “new money” isn’t going to change him. “I’m still going to be an old country boy and I’m not going to buy a lot of flashy suits.”
Beyond the Tx Lottery, the multi-state lottery, Mega Millions jackpot is reaching a staggering number. Having a $312 million lottery numbers’ windfall is enough to not only spend the rest of your life in the Caribbean, but to buy a chain of the islands for yourself. Whatever you choose to do with the money, it is enough to keep one (or many) people happy for a very long time.

Cherry Blossom Festival

The National Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off today in Washington, D.C., making me homesick for the city I called home for years. It is one of the most beautiful times of year in our nation's capital as the pink and white blossoms decorate the Potomac River shores around the city's monuments and power buildings. This year, it's even more beautiful, as the festival is being used to remember and help the people of Japan in wake of the recent devastating earthquake and tsunami.  What do the two have in common? A little history in case your history knowledge is foggy -- In 1912, Japan gifted the United States 3,000 cherry trees, which have stood as symbols of friendship between our two countries since. In exchange, we gave them Dogwood trees. The first festival to celebrate the trees was held in 1935, and today it has grown into a two-week celebration filled with events and parties galore.

Winning Mega Millions ($312 million)

A New York lottery official says a winning ticket for the Mega Millions lottery jackpot worth $312 million has been sold at a variety store in Albany, N.Y.
New York Lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Hapeman says the winning jackpot ticket for Friday's drawing was sold at Coulson's News Center.
According to the Mega Millions website, the jackpot is the sixth-highest in the game's history. The largest jackpot was $390 million in March 2007.
This is the second-highest jackpot for a single winning ticket behind a $315 million prize in November 2005. That ticket was purchased in California.
Hapeman says the earliest the winner or winners can claim the prize is Monday, because lottery offices are closed for the weekend.
The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 22-24-31-52-54, with a Mega ball of 4.
Hapeman says the winner or winners have the option of taking the $312 million prize over 25 years or as a payout of $198 million.

7 Books To Remember The 100th Anniversary

One hundred years ago today, the Triangle Shirtwaist fire killed 175 people who were either trapped or leapt to their death to escape the flames. The fire started at the end of the work day and as mostly immigrant garment workers tried to escape, their way was blocked by a locked door. It took only 18 minutes to get the fire under control but it was too late. The 1911 fire became the touchstone for organized labor. Pictures of the aftermath are here, books on the tragedy are below.

Bean embraces year-round free shipping

Clothing and outdoors retailer L.L. Bean is upping the ante when it comes to free shipping by waiving shipping fees, all the time, with no minimum order.
Maine-based Bean, which announced the strategy Thursday, joins Zappos.com in offering permanent, no-strings-attached free shipping.
Steve Fuller, L.L. Bean's chief marketing officer, said the Maine-based company is adopting the policy because that's what customers want.
Andrew Lipsman, an analyst at Internet research firm comScore Inc., says the industry is moving in that direction. He says that in in 2009, 30 to 35 percent of online holiday purchases involved free shipping; this past holiday season, the figure grew to 40 to 45 percent.

The "Captain America"

How can I articulate how stoked I am for the "Captain America" movie coming out this summer? Well, I'm more stoked about it than "Thor," that's for sure.

Captain America was The First Avenger, after all, and The Avengers are my favorite comic book heroes. So you might say he was/is the original Captain. The rum guy is just a wannabe.

Chris Evans stars as the movie's main character, Steve Rogers, a weakling transformed into a super soldier during World War II. What's cool is the way they digitally shrink Evans to make him look skinny before his transformation into the Captain. (I wonder if they digitally enlarge him, too?)

The girl is someone named Hayley Atwell. At first, I thought she looked like Claire Danes, but no dice.

"Captain America: The First Avenger" is due out July 22

Summer camps to blenders and from cool talcs to shades

The 'C' Day is made up of Art Activity through Cheer-up cards, Aesthetic Development activity through Clay Fun, Craft Activity through Crazy Collage, General knowledge & Awareness through Countries & Costumes, Math Skills through Corn Counting, Imaginative skills through Colourful Clouds, and Language Development through "C" Clothesline. Sounds a mouthful? And this is just a day's schedule at a summer camp being organized in Mumbai. Such is the hectic activity being witnessed in the summer camps and hobby classes in two months of the scorching heat.

The two-month window when the schools shut for vacations is the time when the high-on-energy kids need to be kept busy, and the parents are ready to spend. This has led to the growth of this not-so-old category, which comes on its own mostly during the kids-vacations. Ranging from the dance classes by Shiamak Daavar and Terence Lewis, theatre-led workshops by Raell Padamsee, Prithvi theatre's summertime workshops, to the summer-camps being organized by education brands like Kangaroo Kids, EuroKids, Funskool and many others, form the cornerstone of this fledgling but growing industry. Add to this the outbound summer camps category and the total industry size as per estimates is about Rs200-250 crore.

Sharing the specific plans, Prajodh Rajan, VP of EuroKids International says, "Last year we had closer to 9000 children at our summer clubs across the country. This year the plan is to conduct the clubs across 350 + EuroKids centres in more than 100 + cities in the country for children in the age group of 3-12 years." Summer Club is a 21 day inbound program focused on children in the age group of 3 to 12 years of age who are divided into 2 broad categories (ages 3-7 and age 8-12). Elaborates Lina Ashar, Founder of Kangaroo Kids Preschools & Billabong High International Schools on their plans; "We have been arranging summer camps for our students to ensure that they get their share of fun in the vacation period." This year, they have tied up with Crosswords to host activities like Puppet Making Workshop, science exploration for good living Workshop amongst others.

The action is also moving out from the cities to the nature and adventure. inme Learning, a leading player in the outbound summer camp category has some innovative plans lined up that include G.A.B.R (Great American Bicycle Ride) a 1600 km, self contained expedition from Seattle to San Francisco for Kids aged 14 to 17, a Kedarkantha trekking expedition, a biking expedition on the dirt tracks of Coorg and rafting and Kayaking program in Rishikesh.

Even though as yet a fragmented industry, some brands do have a clear game plan on strategy and allocations. Tarun Chandna, the young CEO of inme Learning, feels that for such a product word of mouth and referrals are the best marketing tools and elaborates, "To aid this strategy we create very attractive marketing collateral and promotional gifts for each child and have a reward scheme for parents and kids to generate referrals." EuroKids has a dedicated marketing budget for Summer Clubs centered on Print advertisements, hoardings, leaflets and mall activations. They allocate close to 15% of their marketing budget on Summer Clubs.

Is Kyle Singler a First-Round Lock

Kyle Singler's All Around Game Displayed for Duke Basketball Will Not Translate in the NBA
Kyle Singler's successful college career ended three games earlier than he hoped. Now he is left to prepare for the upcoming NBA Draft, and what he likely hopes will be a long NBA career.
The chances of him having that long NBA career are certainly debatable. The 6'8" forward has the shooting stroke and instincts that scouts love. He has a great feel for the game, which allows him to be a solid off the ball defender and excellent passer.
Where the questions of his viability as a NBA come into play revolve around his athleticism. He lacks the quickness to be able to stay in front of NBA small forwards and the size to keep power forwards away from the basket.

Sweet 16 games

In the first night of the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16, defending champion Duke was knocked out, underdog Butler kept marching forward, UConn continued to impress and Florida put an end to Jimmer-mania. Get a courtside look at all of the night's best action with our Sweet 16 photo gallery.
