VCU continues shocking run, stuns Kansas

VCU upset top-seeded Kansas 71-61 to become the third No. 11 seed to advance to the Final Four.

SAN ANTONIO — Behind Jamie Skeen, the net at the south end of the Alamodome was coming down. Snip by joyous snip.

I don't even have any words to say," the Virginia Commonwealth senior said, straining to be heard over the postgame commotion. "Nobody said we could do it, and we're doing it. They said we wouldn't even win the first game against USC, the play-in.
"Look where we're at now."
One of the last at-large entries in an expanded NCAA men's basketball tournament, the No. 11-seeded Rams were assigned to a new opening round of games and required to win five games — not four — to reach the Final Four. Critics insisted that was too good for them, that the fourth-place team from the mid-major Colonial Athletic Association didn't belong in the field at all.
Five improbable wins later, the latest Sunday's 71-61 stunner against top-seeded Kansas, they are pointed to Houston and a Final Four matchup Saturday with Butler.
They're the third double-digit seed to get that far and the first since CAA co-member George Mason in 2006.
